Kingsley Hall is a community centre in Bow and they are currently running a project to create a memorial textile screen. They are looking for people to take part by working on the tapestry, making a patchwork or perhaps painting a frieze.
For more details on the next textile screen workshop on Wednesday 11th March go to www.kingsleyhall.co.uk and follow the link on the front page to download the flyer with the details. Full details on the project (which is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund) “Kingsley Hall and the Legacy of Muriel Lester” are also on the website.
I was also excited to see that they are trying to set up an Organic Community Garden and Eco Reception:
The Peace Garden at Kingsley Hall:
We would love to create an organic community garden and eco reception area with sustainable energy source.
We need everyone’s help to make this happen! Have you got skills or knowledge in fundraising, gardening, permaculture, alternative energy systems, eco structures?
We are situated very close to the Olympic site and want to take advantage of the attention we could receive from this. Please contact us if you think you could help.
I’m moving out of the area and off to leafy Walthamstow at the end of this month, but you’re local to Kingsley Hall you should check it out.
