Join the East London Craft Guerrilla at our monthly DIY Craft Night this Wednesday 18th February. It’s Part Two of our Recycled Sweater Project: Cast On. Last month I showed people how to unravel unwanted jumpers and how to harvest the wool from them for use in other projects.

This month we’re ready to Cast On with our recycled wool. I’ll be on hand to help you with casting on and knitting and I can also advise on felting your jumpers if you fancy some ‘cut and sew’ projects. I can even teach you how to knit if you’re a complete beginner or if you just need a bit of a refresher.

I’ve made a minizine to go with this project which you can buy on the night for £2 which has everything you need to know about how to recycle sweaters as well as simple knitting patterns including a pair of slippers and a moss-stitch face cloth.

You can also buy a kit to make your own Lavender Heart for scenting your drawers, hanging in your wardrobe or for putting under your pillow. It uses wool that I have felted myself and some recycled fabrics. The kit costs £5 and contains all you need to make the heart. Other kits on sale will include knitted or sewn projects and jewelery making. I will also bring some knitting needles and yarn for sale.

Bring your own knitting and sewing or any other craft-related projects to do. Tutors are on hand to help with queries. We also have vintage board games for when you fancy a break from crafting.

Don’t forget to bring your “Guilty Pleasures” – tracks you hate to love (or love to hate) and The Handsome Twins will play them for you.
